**Grade 4 ELA: Read, Write & Thrive** is an engaging, standards-aligned course designed to strengthen students’ reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills. Through interactive lessons, guided reading, writing activities, and independent practice, students build confidence in analyzing texts, using evidence, expressing ideas clearly, and becoming stronger independent readers and writers.
Grade 4 ELA: Read, Write & Thrive is a comprehensive, interactive English Language Arts course designed to strengthen the essential literacy skills fourth-grade students need for academic success. The course is aligned with New York State Grade 4 ELA learning expectations and supports the reading and writing skills emphasized in NYC schools.
Throughout the course, students explore engaging fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and informational texts while developing deeper reading comprehension. They learn to identify central ideas and themes, make inferences, analyze characters and point of view, compare texts, understand text structures, build vocabulary, and support their answers with evidence from what they read.
Students also develop strong writing skills through narrative, informational, and opinion/argument writing. Lessons focus on organizing ideas, developing paragraphs, using relevant evidence and details, improving sentence structure, applying grammar and punctuation, and revising and editing their own work.
Each live class combines direct instruction, teacher modeling, interactive activities, guided practice, and approximately 20–25 minutes of student practice. Games, reading challenges, discussions, creative writing, research projects, and problem-solving activities help keep learning active and enjoyable.
By the end of the course, students will be better prepared to read Grade 4 texts independently, explain their thinking with evidence, communicate ideas clearly in writing, and approach classroom and New York State ELA-style assignments with greater confidence.
